Enterhealth Announces Plans to Expand Innovative Outpatient Treatment Company

6/30/16

Enterhealth, a Dallas-based drug and alcohol addiction treatment company, is affirming its commitment to treating addiction with a unique, medically-based model by announcing its plans for a significant outpatient treatment expansion project at its facility in Dallas. The $500,000 expansion exemplifies Enterhealth’s vision to continue to positively impact the lives of individuals struggling with addiction, as it has transformed countless lives since its inception in 2008.

“Most inpatient drug and alcohol treatment programs range from 30 to 90 days, and do not extend the continuum of care through an outpatient treatment plan after inpatient rehab,” said David Kniffen Jr., CEO of Enterhealth. “The reason most people fail in the pursuit of sobriety is because they receive a limited amount of treatment and then they stop. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) describes addiction as a chronic, relapsing brain disease characterized by compulsive drug and alcohol urges, despite harmfully and potentially fatal consequences. For that reason, Enterhealth recognizes that outpatient therapy is a critical step in the path to recovery, which is why we’re committed to expanding our current state-of-the-art program.”

Enterhealth’s outpatient expansion plans include adding advanced, science-based therapy services intended to give patients access to more resources necessary to manage the chronic brain disease of addiction and lead a successful life. The $500,000 investment will be used to further expand treatment programs, online therapy tools, as well as hire additional addiction treatment physicians and specialists. Enterhealth has allocated a portion of the expansion investment to incorporate the following advanced treatment tools:

·         Cognitive remediation therapy helps repair and improve weakened brain functions, such as memory loss and task sequencing, caused by alcohol or drug use.

·        Neurobiofeedback treats the chronic brain disease of addiction by retraining the person’s brain to be calm, focused and more relaxed in stressful situations. Stressful incidents are a major cause of relapse, and Neurobiofeedback training helps create a solid foundation on which to build recovery.

·         Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an addiction therapy technique used to desensitize patients when it comes to the negative emotions associated with a traumatic event. This type of treatment is used as a tool to reprocess traumatic memories into something more positive.

“Since joining Enterhealth Outpatient Center of Excellence in April, I’ve seen patients referred to the facility from all over the country,” said Dr. Elizabeth Weidmer-Mikhail. “Our individualized, science- based treatment is well recognized and respected by other medical professionals in the realm of addiction. Outpatient addiction treatment is a critical part of recovery, as it gives individuals access to treatment in their own community where they live.”

“The expert medical team at Enterhealth Outpatient Center for Excellence believes that outpatient therapy is a critical part of long-term success,” said Kniffen. “We urge individuals who are struggling or who have struggled with addiction in the past to continue their journey through sobriety by choosing a continuing care support program. We are thrilled to expand our offerings to include additional technologically advanced and evidence based methods of treatment.”
