NewQuest Properties is marking the grand opening of its urban "foodie" destination, the 154,863-sf Carrollton Town Center, with a two-day celebration toasting the ribbon-cutting of Texas' first 85°C Bakery Café and featuring an 80's rock concert with Christopher Anton & the Joneses, Jayden Frost and John Boyd.

The list of dignitaries for Friday's 9 a.m. ribbon-cutting includes 85°C Bakery Café founder and master chef Henry Cheng, master chef Chili Yin and COO Cathy Peng along with their team from California, where the Taiwan-based chain made its U.S. inroad. Carrollton Town Center at 2450 Old Denton Rd. is the first of four 85°C Bakery Café locations coming soon in Dallas/Fort Worth. Four also are planned for Greater Houston.

Touted as the Asian Starbucks, 85°C Bakery Café has been dubbed "dessert heaven" by customers who have braved long lines in the Texas sun since last week's soft opening of the 5,771-sf café and 600-sf patio.

Other new openings include Kula Revolving Sushi Bar, Snowy Village, Hanabi Ramen, Café MangoSix. The center is anchored by 99 Ranch Market and Daiso.

"Carrollton Town Center has emerged as an Asian foodie destination," says Heather Nguyen of NewQuest Properties, who along with colleague John Nguyen has assembled an eclectic mass of new retail for the Dallas/Fort Worth marketplace. The familiar and popular brands of Asia are being introduced in North and South Texas, both boasting large multi-cultural populations and experience-seeking food buffs with disposable incomes.

Saturday's "Party on the Block" at Carrollton Town Center will feature a full day of free family fun with children's activities, give-aways and prizes (#CTCPartyontheBlock). A free concert, beginning at 7 p.m., stars Christopher Anton & the Joneses (former lead singer for Information Society); Jayden Frost, who will be performing "When in Rome" and "The Promise"; and John Boyd, lead singer of Passing Strangers.
