Maxim Management Group, a regional leader in specialty health care management, is pleased to announce two new hires at Weatherford Rehabilitation Hospital. Kasey Norman has been named chief executive officer of the hospital, and Jeff Smith has been named director of business development. Mark Harris, chief executive officer of Maxim Management Group, made the announcement. These announcements come at an exciting time, as this week is National Rehabilitation Awareness Week.

“We are pleased to celebrate National Rehabilitation Awareness Week at Weatherford Rehabilitation Hospital, and feel privileged to welcome Kasey and Jeff to our outstanding team,” said Harris. “We look forward to continuing to provide exceptional care to those in and around the Parker County area.  We are the only free standing rehabilitation hospital in Parker County.   Kasey has been a nurse practitioner for more than 25 years, predominantly serving as a CEO for facilities specializing in rehab and long-term acute care. Jeff also joins us with more than 25 years of clinical experience, having filled the role of a registered nurse and managerial positions pertaining to healthcare. Together, we know they will help us fulfill our goal of providing the highest quality care to our patients.”

The mission of Weatherford Rehabilitation Hospital is to deliver the highest quality physical rehabilitation while meeting the needs of each community that it serves. In an effort to raise awareness about rehabilitative therapy, the hospital is pleased to offer in-home assessments. This free service will help individuals see how they can benefit from therapy, and if so, what kind. This goal aligns with the mission of the National Rehabilitation Awareness Foundation (NRAF), which aims to educate people about the benefits and impact of rehabilitation, develop programs to increase opportunities for the nearly fifty million Americans with disabilities, and help those who are disabled live to their fullest potential.

National Rehabilitation Awareness Week is celebrated September 18-24, and Weatherford Rehabilitation encourages anyone interested in learning more about the types of therapy available to schedule an in-home assessment or to visit the hospital to meet the team and tour the premises. According to the National Rehabilitation Awareness Foundation, some of the main benefits of rehabilitative therapy are as follows:

•             Nearly 50 million Americans are disabled. Disability does not discriminate – every person is at risk of disability. Therefore, everyone is a potential candidate for rehabilitation.

•             Most Americans will require at least one rehabilitation service at some point in their lives.

•             Rehabilitation is an integral part of health care and a tremendous component in providing patients with positive outcomes.

•             Rehabilitation is individualized so every patient can progress at his or her own ability level.

•             Rehabilitation can lengthen life, improve the quality of life and reduce subsequent illness.

•             Statistics show that medical rehabilitation improves lives and saves money. For every one dollar spent on rehab care, it is estimated that 11 dollars are saved on long-term disability costs. People participating in rehabilitation programs of care are able to regain productivity and return to work, school and independent living.

•             Independence gained or retained through rehabilitation is priceless.
