The Dallas Morning News and Zales Jewelers have announced that nominations for the 88th Annual Linz Award are now being accepted. For more than 85 years, the Linz Award has symbolized the highest form of recognition for civic service and humanitarian accomplishments in the City of Dallas.
The Linz Award was created by Simon Linz, one of the founders of Linz Jewelers, which was acquired by Zales Jewelers in 1989. The award is presented annually at the Linz Award Luncheon, organized by sustaining members of the Junior League of Dallas (JLD) and benefiting the JLD’s Community Service Fund. Past honorees include: H. Ross Perot, Stanley Marcus, J. McDonald Williams, Thomas M. Dunning, Paul M. Bass Jr., Raymond D. Nasher, Caren Prothro, Ray Hunt, Ebby Halliday, Ronald G. Steinhart, John Field Scovell, Pete Schenkel, Erle Nye, Deedie Rose, Forrest Hoglund, Shelia and Jody Grant, and Debbie Branson.

How to apply
The winner(s) will be selected based on their recent extraordinary civic and/orhumanitarian efforts. To be considered, the nominee must:
- Have achieved extraordinary success participating in recent civic or humanitarian activities in Dallas.
- Be currently involved in community activities - community involvement over the past decade will be considered by theselection committee.
- Have received NO monetary compensation for their efforts.
- Be available for the March 8, 2017 award luncheon at the Omni Dallas Hotel.
- Not be an elected official.
- Not be a previous Linz Award winner.
- Be an individual or married couple. Nominations of groups will not be considered.
All nomination forms must be completed fully and accurately with three letters of recommendation and all supplemental information attached in order to be considered. Nominations must be received by Tuesday, November 1, 2016. The nomination form can be found online at https://www.jld.net/linz/.
