39th Annual Merry Tubachristmas Concert Will be Held at Thanks-giving Square Friday, December 23, 2016

WHAT: Come one, come all to the Merry TUBACHRISTMAS concert Friday, December 23, 2016 at Thanks-Giving Square! A group of more than 175 area tuba, sousaphone, euphonium, and baritone players will present the 39th annual Dallas concert of holiday carols. Jack Delaney, Director of Bands and Professor of Music at Southern Methodist University, will serve as the 2016 Guest Conductor. The concert is free and open to the public.

All area tuba, sousaphone, euphonium and baritone players are cordially invited to join the performance. (There is a $10 registration fee for performers. The music book, Carols for a Merry TUBACHRISTMAS, is available for $20 at registration for those who need one. This same book is used every year at all TUBACHRISTMAS events nationwide). Performers are encouraged to dress in weather-appropriate attire and bring a music stand. Registration and rehearsal will take place the morning of the performance at Thanks-Giving Square. ABOUT THANKS-GIVING SQUARE: Thanks-Giving Square is a beautiful three-acre park, chapel, and museum in downtown Dallas with a setting to inspire gratitude. The park is an oasis for our city’s growing residential life, as well as a daily spot to hear rushing water and a respite for professionals who work in the nearby high-rise office buildings. Our chapel has a unique spiral exterior designed by world famous architect Philip Johnson and an interior spiral of 73 stained-glass panels created by French artist Gabriel Loire.

The Thanks-Giving Foundation, a Texas non-profit corporation, provides funding for and management of Thanks-Giving Square. The organization comprises Thanks-Giving Square, Faith Forward Dallas at Thanks-Giving Square – Faith leaders united for peace and justice, Interfaith Council, Neighbors Council, a full-time staff, and the support of thousands of visitors who come to the Square each year from all 50 states and more than 100 countries.
