The global law firm Jones Day today announced that Hilda C. Galvan, Partner-in-Charge of the Firm's Dallas office, has been named the Chair of the Board of the Dallas Regional Chamber for 2017.
The mission of the Dallas Regional Chamber is to help lead the Dallas area to become the most economically prosperous region -- and the most desirable place to live and work -- in the United States. Through the Chamber's collaborative efforts to support economic development and pro-growth public policy, Dallas is now one of the top markets in the country for business opportunities, global and domestic corporate relocations, and job growth. Hundreds of U.S. based companies with vast international operations call Dallas home. In addition, the local area boasts a large and ever-growing number of international businesses with a significant corporate presence here.
“I am excited to serve as Chair of the Chamber and work alongside the Chamber team to implement the new strategic plan,” said Ms. Galvan. “The plan builds on the Chamber's success with economic development and addresses the need to develop and attract talent to assure the continued economic vibrancy of the region. My personal passion to improve educational opportunities from early childhood to higher education dovetails with Chamber's commitment to education as a key component of talent development and attraction.”
An electrical engineer by training, Ms. Galvan is a nationally recognized trial lawyer who focuses on complex intellectual property litigation across myriad technologies, including semiconductor equipment and processes, telecommunications, computer technology, software and internet applications, and circuit design. She has led cross-border litigation matters involving courts in Europe, Asia, Texas, and the ITC. She was named a global IP leader by World IP Review., a "powerhouse litigator" by IAM magazine, and one of "The Most Powerful Business Leaders" in Dallas-Fort Worth" by D CEO. Prior to leading Jones Day's Dallas Office, Ms. Galvan served as its hiring partner and head of its IP practice.
Ms. Galvan is extraordinarily active in the legal and business community, having served as President of The Honorable Barbara M.G. Lynn American Inn of Courts, and the Executive Committee of the Dallas Regional Chamber. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees for University of Texas School of Law, the Executive Committee of Circle Ten Boy Scouts of America, the Executive Committee for Center for Women in Law and the boards of the Dallas Women’s Foundation, Parkland Foundation and Dallas Hispanic Law Foundation.
