Freese and Nichols, Inc. has announced that Kendall King, P.E., is moving into the role of Group Manager for the firm’s Central Texas treatment, transmission and utilities team. King is relocating from Fort Worth to Austin, where he will enhance the team’s ability to deliver large-scale water projects in the Central Texas region.

In his 17 years at Freese and Nichols, King has built a reputation for excellent client service. One of the most notable examples is the engineering investigation of the Fort Worth Water Gardens following tragic drownings in June 2004. He managed the high-profile investigation and the design modifications to safely reopen the landmark facility. In recognition of his team’s outstanding work, the project received an Engineering Excellence Silver Award from the Texas Council of Engineering Companies in 2007 and an Award of Merit from the American Institute of Architects Fort Worth Chapter in 2008.
King’s other notable water projects include the City of Fort Worth’s Eagle Mountain Water Treatment Plant expansion, which involved the first pilot testing of membrane technology for a Texas city of more than 500,000 residents. Also for Fort Worth, King led the development and implementation of a new Water Department capital improvement planning process, and for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, he served as project manager for the water system comprehensive master plan.
King most recently led Freese and Nichols’ Energy Division. In this role, he oversaw a number of large-scale programs, including the Denton Municipal Electric Capital Improvement Program for the City of Denton; Competitive Renewable Energy Zone (CREZ) transmission projects program management for Oncor Electric Delivery Co.; and Barnett Shale midstream facilities program management for Chesapeake Operating, Inc.
King earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.
