Hull and Jordan to be based in the firm’s Dallas office
National law firm Polsinelli has added shareholders Adam Hull and Rick Jordan as the new co-chairs of the firm’s growing, nationwide Venture Capital and Emerging Growth Companies practice group.
Highly regarded in the legal profession for their experience working with venture-backed companies from inception through exit, Hull and Jordan have represented companies from their strategic location in Dallas, Texas, across a wide variety of industries, including technology, life sciences, energy and manufacturing. They also represent venture capital funds and angel investors, and have experience advising in the formation, acquisition and day-to-day operations of accelerators and startup studios.
“Adam and Rick are both very accomplished attorneys who bring great experience to Polsinelli’s venture capital practice,” said Frank Ross, chair of Polsinelli’s Business Department. “They understand the unique challenges venture-backed companies face and are committed to finding new and innovative ways to solve complex issues. We are excited to have their leadership in taking our venture capital group to the next level and building a competitive, highly-sought-after national practice.”
Hull and Jordan have gained national attention for their in-depth knowledge and passion for assisting entrepreneurs through venture financings while simultaneously guiding them through regulatory and other matters, such as acquisitions and joint ventures. Hull and Jordan co-founded an innovative legal incubator program providing strategic counsel to early-stage businesses. With firsthand experience launching a successful legal incubator program and their backgrounds in serving as lead counsel in mergers and acquisitions transactions, Hull and Jordan have become well-known thought leaders in the industry and have appeared four times at South by Southwest (SXSW), one of the nation’s leading conferences for emerging technologies.
“Polsinelli’s strategic goal is to elevate our Venture Capital and Emerging Growth Companies practice to be the predominant startup firm in our current markets and expand throughout middle America,” said Edward “Trip” Frizell, chair of Polsinelli’s Technology Division. “Adam and Rick will greatly complement our existing team and increase our ability to broaden our services. By leveraging Polsinelli’s geographic reach, deep bench and cost-effective approach for state-of-the-art services, Adam and Rick will help our firm become a major player in the venture capital market.”
Hull’s practice focuses on representing high-growth businesses, primarily in software, hardware, Internet of Things, medtech, cleantech, life sciences, fintech and other areas in technology. He works with emerging companies throughout their lifecycle, with a particular focus on venture capital financings, strategic corporate relationships and complex mergers and acquisitions. Additionally, he represents venture capital funds in their formation, securities offerings and investment activity, and has worked with some of the nation's leading accelerators, incubators and startup studios to form cutting edge corporate and investment fund structures.
Hull is regularly invited to speak about venture capital matters and is frequently featured in industry articles regarding crowdfunding and the rapidly evolving landscape of web-based offering platforms.
Jordan also represents high-growth businesses primarily in the technology sector. His experience encompasses a wide range of corporate and governance matters, including venture capital financings and mergers and acquisitions. In addition to handling complex corporate matters such as joint ventures, restructurings and licensing deals, he regularly serves as outside counsel for both public and private companies. Jordan also has in-depth experience working with boards of directors and board committees, top-level executives, investors, accelerators, and high-growth businesses and entrepreneurs.
A frequent speaker on corporate and venture capital matters, Jordan is also currently chair of the Emerging Business/Venture Capital Committee of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.
