Effective June 1, 2018,Sean Mullerwill be promoted to chief operating officer of tax services and Trey Hunt to partner-in-charge of a new national commercial services industry practice.The expanded executive leadership team will also include Kevin Sanford, partner-in-charge of the national financial services industry practice. Muller, Hunt and Sanford join current executive team members John Mackel, managing partner and CEO;David Rook, chief operating officer for assurance and advisory services;and Kerry Caves, chief operating officer for the firm.

Sean Muller, CPA

Muller, who offices in Houston,joined Weaver as a tax partner in 2011. Hehas more than 25 years of experience providing tax and consulting services for publicly traded corporations and private entities, including international tax coordination. He moves into the COO position from his previous role as partner-in-charge of tax and strategic business services for Weaver’s Southwest Texas region, wherehe nourished significant growth and success. Muller’s diverse experience spans industries such as energy, real estate, engineering services, industrial services and distribution. He is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Te xas Society of Certified Public
Accountants (TSCPA). Muller earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in professional accounting from the University of Texas at Austin
Melvin F. “Trey” Hunt III, CPA
Partner-in-Charge, National Co mmercial Services Industry Practice
Hunt, in the Houston office, joined Weaver as a senior manager in 2007 and was named partner in 2010.He has more than 17 years in public accounting, including Big Four experience. Hunt previously led assurance services for Weaver’s Southwest Texas region;before that,he led the oil and gas industry practice. In his new role, he willwork with Weaver’s commercial industry leaders to develop new strategies and initiatives to grow the industry groups firm wide. With significant experience in oil and gas accounting, SEC filings, international audit c oordination, hedge accounting, revenue recognition and stock-based compensation,Hunt provides se rvices to private and publicly-held businesses in energy and manufacturing. He will now also work closely with private equity partners to leverage relationships and expand Weaver’s commercial services offerings in Texas, California and beyond. An active member of the Petroleum Accounting Society of Houston, AICPAand TSCPA, Hunt remains on the forefront of industry and regulation changes. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Sam Houston State University.
Kevin Sanford, CPA
Partner-in-Charge, National Financial Services Practice
Sanford, who offices in Dallas/Fort Worth,began his career at Weaver in 2000 and was named partner in 2009. Hehas led Weaver’s financial services industry practice since 2010, serving a wide variety of companies in the financial services industry, including approximately 700 investment companies, as well as financial institutions, real estate entities, broker-dealers, insuranceand endowments, pension funds and trusts. In his expanded role, he will lead growth and strategy for this practice nationwide. An active member of the Texas Hedge Fund Association, he is also involved with the Southeastern and California hedge fund associations, AICPA and TSCPA. Sanford graduatedcum laudewith a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Christian University.
