Weaver Announces Industry Group Leadership Changes

Weaver, atop 40 United Statesaccounting firm with offices across the country, hasreorganized itsfinancial and commercial industry groupings to continue delivering specialized client services and industry expertise. The leadership changes enablespecific teams to better focus on the firm’s primary industry areas: financial services, commercial services, public sector and private client services.

Effective June 1, 2018,Brian Reed, CPA/ABV, partner-in-charge of transaction advisory services and privateequity services works with both Kevin Sanford, CPA, leader of the national financial services industry group and Melvin F. “Trey” Hunt, III, CPA, partner-in-charge and leader of the commercial services industry group. The following industry leaders work primarily with Sanford in the national financial services industry group:Matt Anderson, CPA, partner-in-charge, alternative investments;andJames Mihills, CPA,partner-in-charge,financialinstitutions services.

Working with Hunt, the following leaders will focus on specific industries:Rob Myatt, CPA, who nowleads energy services;Brad Jay, CPA, CGMA, who has led manufacturing and distribution services, is now also responsible for technology services;Mark Lund, CPA, CCIFP,continues to lead construction services; andColby Horn, CPA,promoted to director of real estate and hospitality services.

Public sector services continue under the leadership ofPartner-in-Charge Sara Dempsey, CPA. Private client services is co-led by Justin Reeves, CPA, partner-in-charge,North Texas, and Elizabeth Bunk, CPA,CFP®partner-in-charge,South Texas.

Partner-in-Charge, Transaction Advisory Services

Partner-in-Charge, Private Equity Services

Reed, who offices in Dallas, joined Weaver in 2009 as the director of transaction advisory services; he was named partner in 2012. His expanded positionis integral with both the financial services and commercial services industry groups.Reed’s now formalized role has an enhanced focus on all stakeholders surrounding private equity, as well as acquisition due diligence and valuation services. He helps coordinate services, as well as assistswith transactions for private equity sponsors, funds, investors and corporate clients in a number of industries including manufacturing, retail, health care, distribution, technology and energy. He is amember of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) andthe Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA). Reed is accredited in business valuation by the AICPA; heearned a Master of Business Administration degree from Tulane University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin

Matt Anderson, CPA

Partner-in-Charge, Alternative Investments

In 2014, Anderson joined Weaver as a partner upon the firm’s expansion into California and led the opening ofthe Los Angeles office. He drove significant growth in Weaver’s West Coast market and specifically in alternative investments. In his new position, Andersonleadsa spe cialized focus on serving a variety of investment fundsin conjunction with Weaver’s national financial services team. The servicesoffered to the alternative investments industry include audit, tax planning and compliance, financial reporting and consulting. Weaver’s focus includes a wide variety of alternative investment vehicles including hedge, private equity, venture, growth capital, funds of funds and real estate.He is a member of the AICPA and the California Society of CPAs (CalCPA). Matt is a graduate of Binghamton University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.

James Mihills, CPA

Partner-in-Charge, Financial Institutions Services

With a history of serving financial institutions,Mihills joined Weaver’s Fort Worth office as a senior manager in 2012when the firm merged withDelong Consulting Services, L.C. He was named partner in 2015.Now leading the financial institutions industry group,Mihillsmanagesthis team that provides Sarbanes-Oxley, FDICIA and Model Audit Rule compliance and readiness; risk management and enterprise risk management implementation; internal and external audit;tax planning and compliance;regulatory compliance reviews and preparedness;information technology controls and security assessments;independent interest rate risk and liquidity risk reviews, and other specialized services for financial institutions across the nation. A member of both the AICPA and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas A&M University.

Rob Myatt, CPA

Partner-in-Charge, Energy Serv ices

Myatt, who offices in Dallas, began his career with Weaver in 2006 and was named partner in 2015.The multifaceted ener gy industry has long been one of the largest drivers of revenue at Weaver. In Myatt’s new position, he leads an energy industry team that focuses ona wide range ofoil and gas industry verticals includingupstream, midstream, downstream and power/renewables. The energy group now includes oilfield services to capture the synergies between the private equity groups and theirenergy-focused investment portfolios.Myatt concentrateson tax consulting and compliance for private-equity-backed portfolio companies, private equity funds, large independent operators, and associated management teams, principals, families and investors. He is a member of the AICPA,the TSCPA and the Dallas Petroleum Club. Myatt isactively involved with the Council of Petroleum Accountants Society (COPAS), the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA), and the Young Professionals in Energy (YPE) of Dallas. He holds a Master of Science degree in tax accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration deg ree in accounting, both from Texas Tech University.

Brad Jay, CPA, CGMA

Partner-in-Charge, Manufacturi ng, Distribution and Technology Services

Jay began his career at Weaver’s Fort Worth office and was named partner in 2004. He has and will continue to lead the growth of the manufacturing and distribution team; and now his expanded role will include the technology industry, as well. Technology is primed for a sharp growth curve due to significant investments made in artificial intelligence, block chain and other innovations. Jay and his teamfocus on financial reporting, auditing and reviews of financial statements, and providing consulting services for manufacturers, wholesalers and public corporations.Jay is active in the AICPA and the TS CPA and he fills several leadership roles with community and civic organizations. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Abilene Christian University.

Mark Lund, CPA, CCIFP

Partner-in-Charge,Constructio n Industry Services

In 2007, Lund joined Weaver as a partner when the firm expanded into Houston and mergedwith McDonald, Fox and Lund, P.C. As the partner-in-charge of Weaver’s construction industry services, Lund provides guidance over the firm’s audit, review and consulting engagements in construction, engineering, architectural and other professional services industries. He is a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) working with contractors for more than 35years. Lund has served on numerous industry-related boards and committees including the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) and the Rice Design Alliance (RDA), Rice Architecture school and has authored accounting articles for professional and business publications.Lund earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Texas A&M University.

Colby Horn, CPA

Director, Real Estate and Hospitality Services

Horn joined Weaver’s Dallas office in 2016 as a senior manager prior to being promoted to his current position as leader of the firm’s real estate and hospitality services. As the new leader of this industry group, Horn and his team focus onproviding financial statement attestation for public and private businesses, auditing employee benefit plans, and advising clients in all aspects of mergers, acquisitions, divestituresand due diligence. Horn is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the AICPA and the T SCPA. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of North Texas.
