Scott Kurzawinski and Michael McLaurin set to lead Del Frisco’s Grille at Las Olas Square come November 14

Del Frisco's Restaurant Group, has announced that Scott Kurzawinski has been named general manager, and Michael McLaurin has been named executive chef, of the new Del Frisco’s Grille in Fort Lauderdale, slated to open Nov. 14. The restaurant ? a stylish, modern restaurant with a vibrant ambiance where life is celebrated around the table ? is located in the Las Olas Square building, at 501 Las Olas Blvd, Suite 150, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. Together, Kurzawinski and Chef McLaurin will lead a staff of 150 personable, determined and professional team members.

Located in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale, the restaurant is the only Del Frisco’s Grille in the tri-county area. The 8,083-square-foot new American bar and grill seats more than 274 guests. It features a dedicated private event space suited to host gatherings up to 28 guests. Del Frisco’s Grille currently has 23 locations nationwide.

Appointed General Manager, Scott Kurzawinski, a Fort Lauderdale resident, joins Del Frisco’s Grille with experience in all phases of operations, concept development and community relations. In his new role, Kurzawinski will be responsible for all day-to-day operations of the restaurant. Kurzawinski was most recently employed at JEY Hospitality, where he was opening general manager for Himmarshee Public House; he then became managing partner for Pizza Craft/Apothecary 330, and later transitioned to beverage director for all six JEY concepts. Prior to that time, he helped open the first Hard Rock Live venue in Universal Studios CityWalk, Orlando as well as concepts for Bar Management Group, Bonezzi Development and Park Lights Group.

Kurzawinski recently received his Introductory Sommelier Certification from the Master Court of Sommeliers and plans on advancing through its levels of certification. Originally from Gary, Indiana; he attended Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana and Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, studying public and environmental affairs/criminology.

“The Las Olas area has been missing a social hub that features prime steaks and seasonal cuisine in a modern social setting,” said Kurzawinski. “Del Frisco’s Grille brings that to the fastest-growing city in South Florida, Fort Lauderdale.”

Chef Michael McLaurin has worked in the hospitality industry for over 18 years in Chicago, New York City, Atlanta and Miami. He joins Del Frisco’s Grille from Big Easy Winebar & Grille in Brickell City Centre in Miami. McLaurin started with Del Frisco’s Grille at the company’s very first location in 2009 in New York City, where he served as a broiler cook and later as a sous chef and since has worked other Del Frisco’s Grille locations around the country.

McLaurin is responsible for the overall guest experience and executing the menu’s robust offerings. He is passionate about the restaurant’s steaks being the best he has ever had, and his favorite drink is the VIP ? which he calls a “summer day in a glass.” Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Chef McLaurin graduated from Washburne Culinary & Hospitality Institute in Chicago.
