Amerant Bank Appoints Carlos Montoliu As EVP, Dallas Market Manager

Amerant Bank, formerly known as Mercantil Bank, the largest community bank headquartered in Florida with eight banking centers in Houston, has announced Carlos Montoliu as Executive Vice President, Dallas Market Manager. Montoliu, who was previously based in the Bank’s Coral Gables headquarters, will now be head the Bank’s new Dallas Loan and Deposit Production Offices - slated to open in the first quarter of 2019.

With more than 30 years of experience in the banking industry, Montoliu brings an in-depth understanding of the Corporate and Financial Institutions market to his new role and will be responsible for launching and developing business in the Dallas Market for Amerant Bank.

A strong leader, Montoliu is well-versed in the market’s banking regulatory systems, possessing a successful track record for developing viable strategies to maintain a competitive edge in the market.

Prior to his appointment, Montoliu served as Executive Vice President, Corporate Latam Manager at Mercantil Bank in Miami, Florida. Previously, Montoliu served as Head of Global Corporate Banking at Mercantil Banco Universal and as Global Transaction Services Head of Citibank, N.A. Venezuela Branch.

Montoliu earned his Master in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Babson College, Wellesley, MA and a Bachelor in Urban Planning from Universidad Simon Bolivar, Caracas, Venezuela.

Active in the industry, Montoliu is a member of the Board of Directors of FIBA as well as a member of the Dallas Regional Chamber.
