Grant Supports Justice For Victims of Criminal Child Abuse in Dallas County
Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) is proud to receive a $7,500 grant from the Texas Bar Foundation to support DCAC’s Partner Relations Program. Founded in 1991, DCAC is the only agency of its kind fighting criminal child abuse in Dallas County, serving over 7,300 people each year. The Partner Relations Program is responsible for ensuring administration of justice for victims of severe child abuse in Dallas County.
Last year, DCAC’s Partner Relations Team read more than 28,000 reports of child abuse. The Partner Relations Program is an essential part of the organization’s ability to serve North Texans. The Program consists of a dedicated team to support the relationships and coordination between 39 organizations that comprise the multidisciplinary team supporting each child and family. The Program is responsible for educating first responders on best practices relating to criminal child abuse cases, and it also supports first responders during crisis through the provision of meals and other urgent need items. Finally, the Program includes a dedicated team of eight multidisciplinary coordinators responsible for reading and evaluating every child abuse report in Dallas County, ensuring all cases which meet the necessary criteria receive services.
Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $21 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation's largest charitably-funded bar foundation.
“Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center is extremely thankful to the Texas Bar Foundation for this generous grant,” said Lynn Davis, Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center President and Chief Executive Officer. “Because of this grant, DCAC will be able to continue to fight for justice for children in Dallas County who have suffered unspeakable abuse.”
