Kim Askew
DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Kim Askew, a partner in the firm’s Employment practice, has been named a 2020 Texas Trailblazer by Texas Lawyer.
A nationally recognized employment lawyer who was the first African American to chair the State Bar of Texas’s board of directors and the first minority lawyer to chair the litigation section of the ABA, Askew aims to be a “problem-solver who works with her clients to achieve the results they need and help move their workplaces forward,” according to the report. The publication noted that she “is not one to sit idly by while life happens around her” and is ready to confront the post-COVID legal landscape, “remaining committed to her clients, her community and her profession.”
In her practice, Askew represents clients in significant employment matters involving claims of race, disability, gender and age discrimination and sexual harassment, as well as in litigation involving business torts, trade secrets, non-compete, and non-solicitation and employment agreements. She has successfully tried cases to jury and non-jury verdicts in state and federal courts across the US and has handled appeals before federal and Texas appellate courts.
